The new Garmin Edge 850 & 550
Share
Meet the new Garmin Edge 850 and its sibling, the 550. These models are the successors to the popular Edge 540 and 840 and offer advanced features in a compact and user-friendly format.
Screen and GPS
Both models feature a bright 2.7-inch color display, providing sharp and vivid maps and data. Multiband GPS with 5Hz recording ensures precise positioning, even in challenging environments like dense wooded trails or urban areas. With up to 36 hours of battery life in power save mode, they're ideal for long rides, and preloaded maps, including roads, gravel routes, and Trailforks trails, make navigation easy. Smart training features like Garmin Cycling Coach plans, real-time weather updates, and nutrition and hydration reminders also help you perform at your best. (Text continues after image)

Features
The Edge 550 is aimed at riders who prefer physical buttons over a touchscreen. This makes it ideal for use with gloves or in wet conditions. Offering all the essential features without distractions, the 550 is perfect for riders who value simplicity, reliability, and a robust build.
The Edge 850, on the other hand, adds extra functionality with a touchscreen for intuitive operation and easy navigation, a built-in speaker for audible alerts and navigation announcements, and Garmin Pay for contactless payments on the go. It also includes advanced MTB profiles, such as enduro and downhill modes, with improved GPS recording and timing features for serious mountain bikers.
Navigation & Alerts
With 64GB of storage, the Garmin Edge 850 offers plenty of space for saved rides and maps if you plan to cycle abroad. The Garmin Edge 850 also inherits a nice feature from its sibling, the Edge 1050. While the Edge 550 only emits beeps, the Edge 850 has a built-in speaker with audio prompts. This makes it perfect for busy cities or downhill runs where you're on a route and can't look at your Garmin.
The new Garmin Edge 850 and Edge 550 make your rides not only smarter, but also safer and more efficient. Thanks to smart food and drink alerts, you'll receive a reminder while cycling when it's time to eat or drink, helping you maintain optimal energy levels and avoid unexpectedly running out of juice. These cycling computers also offer comprehensive Groupride features, allowing you to easily stay connected with your fellow riders. You can see where the rest of the group is in real time and even receive a notification if someone has fallen behind due to a breakdown. This way, you always stay in touch and can be sure no one is left behind.
